44. Making a Living and a Having a Life as a Creative Entrepreneur with novelist Georgia Clark
Hey Magic Makers!
Let’s keep Pride month going by hearing more stories from our friends in the queer community! Today I am speaking with Georgia Clark, a novelist, performer, screenwriter, and the host and founder of a popular storytelling night called Generation Women in New York City. She has an amazing queer romance novel called “Island Time” coming out tomorrow, June 14, 2022.
Georgia specializes in romcom, which in my personal opinion, is a very under-appreciated genre!
This conversation is all about how to make a living AND a life as a creative entrepreneur, the rollercoaster it can be to work on a long term project, like a novel, the journey she has been on, and all of the ways we can make money to support our art, rather than putting pressure on our art to make us money.
So while you are listening, ask yourself, why are you drawn to a certain creative pursuit? Usually it is about more than just a job. Usually it is about seeking happiness and passion. In this day and age, we often only see people’s highlight reels on life, not the other things they do to live and work. Creative people often cobble together things that attract money to fund their art!
