30. How to name your brand or business; my first “Solo Series” deep dive

Welcome to my new “Solo Series” where I’m gonna give you a quick download on ONE subject, tip, or piece of advice that truly moved the needle for me in my life or business. OK now let’s get into the good stuff… today I’m sharing something that really is the first step of turning a business idea into a reality and that is: NAMING YOUR BRAND!

Here’s the thing; I’ve seen so many entrepreneurs make the mistake of picking the wrong brand name and having to completely re-do everything a year later. Let’s avoid that drama and stack the deck with some aces, shall we?

When naming your brand, you want to make sure it’s CORAL:

Clear

Open

Relevant

Available

Loved

Clear- it’s clear what you’re offering AND it’s easy to spell/say. It should be unique, but easy to remember.

Open- don’t box yourself in too much. Keep in mind you’ll want to expand your offers one day.

Relevant- What is your ideal customer already looking for? What’s relevant to her and the problem she’s trying to solve?

Available- This is the BIG one! Before you get too excited making a logo and choosing colors and all that jazz, you need to make sure your brand name is available for use. That means the domain name, social media handles, and legal trademark are available for you to claim or purchase.
